Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department

The Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department is organized for the purpose of fighting fire in and about the town of Harrisville, assisting during high water, or in case of any other emergency or dangers threatening the said town and its inhabitants.

What We Do

The Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department provides primary fire protection, rescue and first response medical services to the town of Harrisville and the approximately 55 square miles surrounding it.

The department also provides mutual aid response to Ritchie County's other four fire departments: 

• Cairo
• Ellenboro
• Pennsboro
• Smithville

Who we are

The Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of members of the community who VOLUNTEER their time to train and respond to emergencies of all kinds. 

The department was founded in 1949 by concerned citizens after a series of fires required agencies from other communities to respond to Harrisville.

Over the years, the department has responded to thousands of emergency calls in Ritchie County as well as Pleasants, Doddridge, Tyler, Calhoun, Gilmer, Wirt, Wood and Jackson Counties.
